The Eastern Palace Suite is Sweet

I am having so much fun with the new Eastern Palace Suite from Stampin’ Up!    My principal’s birthday is Monday and I decided to make her a little box of note cards.

Here is the box I created using the Eastern Beauty Stamp Set and papers from the Eastern Palace suite.

The ideas was inspired by a blog called Ink Stamp Share.  She made a similar box with 4x4 note cards.  I wanted my note cards to be 3 x 3 because I had some envelopes that would fit that size card.  I adjusted the measurements and used the same instructions to make this box.  The colors are Dapper Denim and Very Vanilla.  The DSP is from the Eastern Palace Suite and I used the coordinating Eastern Medallion Thinlits.     I added some gold embossing to the two bottom pieces of the "card candy" centerpiece.  This suite just screams Gold to me!

That pretty gold circle in the center of the flower is a sticker.  The suite has stickers too!

The box is 1/2 inch thick.  I was
able to fit 4 note -cards inside.

The note cards were 3 x 3.  I cut 3 x 6 card stock.  Scored down the center.  Then I cut 3 x 3 Very Vanilla and cut the medallion in the center.  Adhered it to the front of the card with dimensional.  Two note cards are Dapper Denim and two are Tranquil Tide.  Both colors coordinate with the Designer Series Paper used on the top of the box.

I cut a 2 - 1/2  x 2  - 3/4 piece of Very Vanilla for the inside of the cards.  I stamped with the coordinating inks for a finishing touch.

I love how it turned out.  I hope my principal will love it too!  The Eastern Palace Suite will be in the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! catalog which will be released on June 1, 2017.  But guess what!!  Stampin' Up! has made it available for purchase early.  They are offering two packages:

I'm a hoarder....

OK, I confess.  I'm a hoarder!
Yes, it's true.  One look at my craft room and all the designer paper stashes, 17 year old stamps and long gone card stock colors and inks and you will see it's true.

I've tried to sell it, and I can't bring myself to part with it.  So...I'm on a mission to use up my stash!

Here is a card I created the other day.  I was inspired by a friend's card that I received in a swap.

I used a retired DSP and Strawberry Slush.  The butterfly was punched using Whisper White card stock and then embellished with Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  (I don't know if I could survive without my rhinestones!)  Oh yea, and I punched two butterflies and layered them, curling the top one just a bit.

And here's my card next to my inspiration card.  I totally copied my friend (and she didn't mind one bit).  I used a DSP with a color coordinated solid mat behind it.  Then just took a strip of the same solid card stock, stamped a sentiment on it and placed it about 2/3 down the card.  Added my little butterfly and instant card!  I could have used a bow instead of a butterfly and ribbon instead of the card stock strip.

What simple, but beautiful cards!  I can think of so many other ways to use this "sketch" or layout to make more creations using ribbons, flower punches, dragonflies, hearts....

What are some of your ideas?

I hope these cards inspire you to make something special.  Until next time.

Hey Chick! Sale-A-Bration Freebie.

Wow!  When I saw this free stamp set from Sale-A-Bration you could say, "it really gave me something to crow about."  I LOVE CHICKENS!  And the ones in this set are so darn cute.

This is my first project with the Hey Chick set from Stampin' Up!.  Simple, easy, but such a classy chick.  I just want to give her a name, don't you?  I used Basic Black and Pool Party along with some of my retired Designer Series Paper stash to whip out this little beauty.  Inside it says, "you're a good egg".

It's still not too late to nab a flock of your very own.  Just hop, fly, or click over to my Stampin' Up! store before March 31.  Spend $50 on product, before shipping and handling, and these lovely ladies  could be yours.  Remember, they're only available during Sale-A-Bration and then they'll be flying the coop.  (The puns are endless...I'm cracking myself up here.)

This is what the set looks like.....

Until next time.

2014 Stampin' Up! Convention

Finally…..Salt Lake City for the Stampin’ Up! Convention!  I am having so much fun.

I arrived a day early and took the train to my beautiful hotel.

Riding trains is not something I get to do in Texas.  It's more than a train ride, it's a new cultural experience!

Yes, the flowers are real!
Next, lunch with my peeps and then on to the "Stamp Across America" class where my card won a contest!!!  The brand new shiny stamp set was my prize!

After that we went to the convention hall to check in and get all our cool convention goodies.
The lines to check in were really long (even though convention doesn't start until tomorrow) but guess what!  The line for people whose names begin with a "D" only had one person in it!  Wow!!!  I walked right up and checked in.  The C's and the E's were kind of giving me the evil eye.  Sorry guys....sometimes it's a good thing to not be popular.

Then we went to a Paper Pumpkin party where they had delicious punch, cookies, cake and brownies....OH MY! and a make and take.  I LOVE MAKE AND TAKES!!!
This project is a sneak peak from September's Paper Pumpkin!  If you're not getting Paper Pumpkin you are missing so much fun!  It's a kit, mailed directly to you each month, with everything you need (except glue) to make some very fun projects.  September's kit will include Halloween stamps, burlap bags and stuff to make cute tags.  There's also little tiny clothespins, stickers and sequins and more.

Now....I've saved the best for last.  If you want to try Paper Pumpkin, they are offering your first 2 months for 1/2 price.  Yes, I said half price!  Just click the link below to try the best Paper Therapy in a box you'll ever find.  If you want the September Halloween themed kit, you better hurry.

Well that's all my convention news for now.  Time to get some sleep so I'll have lots of energy for another busy day of fun and stamping.  Please sign up for my emails, and until next time.....

Fourth of July Party Favors / Milk Carton Box

Milk Carton Box Fourth of July Party Favor

Here is another cute idea for the Fourth of July.  This is called a “milk carton box”.  It is very easy to put together and makes a great party favor.  I’ve used these for Easter, birthdays, little treats to give to co-workers.  You just change the decorations and you have a sweet treat!

They can be filled with candy or you could use them to wrap earrings or a small gift.  You could even roll up some dough as a gift for a graduate…..etc.   If it fits, it will work.

On this one I just changed the color of the box.

Here are the items I used for the little boxes.  If you'd like a free tutorial for the Milk Carton Box just follow my blog and send me your email address.  I'll send you a PDF within 24 hours.

Happy fourth!
